Anxiety is high up there, especially when it comes to autistic individuals and their parents, and this year (as well as the last two years) is no exception. Emotional wellness is huge this year even with atypical individuals and school, social media, TikTok, etc. We have had to be more proactive when it comes to keeping him off the computer and into more hobbies, outdoor activities (that he is comfortable with), and finding more ways to keep him occupied. It started happening more and more with his increase of sceentime and he slowly started to become obsessed with all of the negative comments online.

Thankfully we are finding things that do keep his interest and actually work. If you are an autism parent struggling to keep your autistic son or daughter from becoming depressed, please reach out to an autism support group and find ways to keep them from being on the computer all hours of the day and night.

Opening School During a Pandemic with 3 Different Covid-19 Strains

"As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases." https://homeschoolspecneedstidbits.com/affiliate-disclosure/ Is it SAFE for your kids to return to school during a pandemic? My hubby and I asked each other that same question a few days ago when we received an email about our school district's reopening plan. There are so many things at stake: economy, opening of businesses, children's mental and emotional wellness,   parent's sanity and so much more that is happening in our world right now.  To top it all off, there is a pandemic that can kill you and your immediate family ***ARGH!!!***. If you are still on the fence about what to decide, in regards to sending your children back to school, the CDC has a great checklist you can check out and make the best decision for your family.  In our case, our son is autistic as some of you may already know and our concerns will obviously not be the same as your concerns when it comes to having your child return t...

Summer Vibes.....It is Like Hades in the PNW!!

"As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases." https://homeschoolspecneedstidbits.com/affiliate-disclosure/   It is almost August, and it is pretty hot here in the PNW! We have an excessive heat warning and my oldest just informed me that she wants to walk to the corner market for some sushi?! I am not sure where her mind is at sometimes, especially when it's this hot and she wants to go walking around. I don't get it :-O!  Anyway, we are finishing up this month with ongoing worksheets that I created in all of the subjects that my youngest struggles with and so far he is doing well. Since his birthday was on Monday (he turned 16), I said that he didn't have to do any worksheets this week to give him a break. But he still needs to attend online summer school classes (that I can't cancel, LOL!).  How are you keeping your kids busy this summer?  ~ Mom Advocate
