We are almost done with this school year and my son is beside himself with giddiness and completing of his lessons each day. It has been such a whirlwind, but worth every minute, second, and hour of each day that we have spent learning a new way of schooling and enjoying the flexibility of our environment. I hope that this coming year brings you joy, mental health and stability.

With gas prices as high as the ocean tides, it has been a balancing act of picking and choosing to run a quick errand to the store or just picking up groceries as well as delivery. Having gas prices as high as $6 per gallon gives me pause and seriously considering an electric or hybrid car in the not-too-distant future. ***SIGH***

I have put together a workbook for my autistic teen son, so there is no summer slide and have been doing this since he was in kindergarten (really for both of my kids), so that he can still be keeping abreast of all school subjects.

Thankfully we will still have access to his online curriculum from school and can even print it out, FREE of charge.  It is definitely a blessing, so we don't have to spend any extra money for any type of camp or otherwise. Here are those books that I purchased:

My son was so excited to see them and touch them. It will be fun to try them out for this last week of school, so that he can anticipate what to expect as we near the beginning of summer break for 2022.

I hope you have an awesome summer with you and your loved ones. Stay Safe, Healthy and Have Fun!!

November 2023 Winter

" As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases." https://homeschoolspecneedstidbits.com/affiliate-disclosure/  Hello Everyone,  Can you believe that we are already in November? My oldest is in her 3rd year of college and chose to do her studies remotely and loves it. As you already know, our youngest is autistic and he is in his final year of high school. Lots to think about and do in this final push and the journey still continues.  We are anticipating just relaxing this 3-day weekend, so that we have time to refresh, take naps and whatever else is in store. So far, we have had a bunch of rain that just keeps on coming here in the PNW, but it did finally stop today with more in the forecast, LOL! If you are trying to figure out what movies are out to watch this holiday season, we can think of a few that are our family's favorites during the holidays.  Hope you have a safe 3-day Veteran's Day weekend! Lots of people lost their lives and the normal that most people came to know and love changed forever. Some people, especially educators, were not sure how they were going to educate all of their students in Kindergarten-12th grade, especially those with special needs.  Make back to school easy with schedules, fidgets and sitting wedges from NationalAutismResources.com Some school districts did not know what to do and were faced with how they were going to educate students online and address the needs of those that struggled already academically, emotionally, financially

The Teen Years in Autism

"As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases." https://homeschoolspecneedstidbits.com/affiliate-disclosure/   The teenage years of autism are downright hard and challenging when it comes to autistic boys. I think our son is at his highest, in regard to his anxiety level, and thankfully we have been able to get him to talk more about what is bothering him (that doesn't always work) but helping him find his voice and us listening helps him get it out of his system.  We have found a temporary fix to him navigating all of the news headlines of the day and there are a lot and as we all know NONE of it is good news. It is like once he reads a headline, this invades his entire day, and his homework doesn't get done ***SIGH***. So, we have decided to take away his phone temporarily and only return it to him after he is done with his homework. It seems to be working really well and he is definitely not as preoccupied or distracted by the world around him.  School
