Well, February is here and I am ready for a Spa Day! Being cooped up inside and doing Zoom calls has its ups and downs but sometimes you just need a little pampering to keep your spirits up. **SIGH***.
We are still in a pandemic, so it has now been two years and counting and frankly, I am so done...can I get an Amen! So we are still masking, still trying to stay safe out here in these streets, while grocery shopping, meeting with friends and so many other things that involve being social. Social distancing remains in full force. And what about Valentine's Day. I wonder what it is like now that COVID-19 has entered our daily lives. What is dating like? I am thankful to be still happily married and not single in these times because it would be difficult to figure out who could be the "one" as well as who is telling the truth about being vaccinated or not. I will stop there because this could get complicated quickly.
Onward to homeschooling in a post-pandemic world and what this could look like going forward for special needs/autistic students. Being able to homeschool our autistic son during these COVID times has been a blessing for our family and opened up so many avenues when it comes to environment and progress in learning. The right tools are in place now so that our son continues to progress and learn at his own pace. It has been life-changing because although we were involved when our son attended the local brick-and-mortar public schools, we felt more welcomed and validated in our present school organization. We hope to continue this journey until he graduates high school and beyond and will continue to advocate for him until he no longer needs us and learns to advocate more fully for himself. For parents that still are on the fence about homeschooling their special needs child, only you can answer that question. Make a list of the pros and cons of brick and mortar learning vs what you could provide at home for your child. Also, look at your financial situation as well. And last but not least, YOU are your child's best advocate to navigate this world and what it has to offer them in their journey.
Be Well and Stay Safe:-).
